Pest & Disease Diagnosis

Pests and diseases can cause tree risks, as well as compromising aesthetic appeal and reducing amenity value. Accurate diagnosis is therefore critical to ensure you take the best course of action.

Fungus growing on the roots of a tree.

I offer a deep knowledge of host/fungus interactions so that, between us, we can make informed decisions about treatment and tree management. For instance, differences in wood decay patterns from Inonotus hispidus is far more severe in ash trees than in London plane trees – meaning that different approaches are needed.

To support my diagnosis and recommendations, I can send plant, fungi and soil samples for scientific analysis to the Government Forest Research Centre. I can also prepare detailed management plans to control specific pests such as oak processionary moth and diseases including ash dieback.
